I loved this place! Service was excellent and very friendly! The tofu soups were delicious and made to order (for example, plain means plain re: heat level and medium really means medium!). The panchan is tasty too and I loved the kimchi and vegetable pancake the most.

    Can't wait to go back!

For a Korean BBQ not to be AYCE, it needs to have good quality meat and flavor. Yummy Tofu delivers on that front.

    Food
    I would recommend:
Beef short rib lunch combo: tender, juicy, flavorful. It's a good balance of salty and sweet.

The sides here are pretty awesome. All of it is consistently fresh and compliments the korean BBQ well. The lunch combos come with purple or white rice (I usually get purple). The kimchi has strong, balanced flavor. Salty, spicy, and goes really well with the short ribs and rice.

    Service
I've been here many times over the course of the past 3 years. Service is never bad, but I've never been asked if I needed anything. I've always had to hunt down either a waiter or an owner for another round of sides, even if they are not busy at all. Their food is great. However, my experiences here would be improved with better service.

Highlights: Seafood pancake, spicy pork BBQ, kimchi pork belly, huge variety of very good banchan
Meh: tofu soup, spicy rice cakes

Really meh honestly. I'll get it out of the way - the food is good here, especially for the price compared to other Korean restaurants in the Bay Area. That's the only reason I'm giving it 3 stars and not 2.

But dining here is not a pleasant, smooth, or welcoming experience, and we've been here a ton. Dunno what it is but I definitely don't get the "friendlier each time you come back" vibe a few other reviews mention.

Feels like pulling teeth to get water or even just order, not to mention how stuffy and crowded it is inside. The manager(?) lady speaks Korean and Mandarin and is super friendly with select parties, but is otherwise stoneface and barely acknowledges other parties, including my family, who she insists on only speaking in English with. The other ladies are impossible to flag down and some literally do not speak English, so if you need to order or get more water, they'll call the manager lady over.

I only come here with family because they like that it's cheap for Korean. Would never come here on my own.

Skip this place. Miss me with that dismissive service like you're doing me a favor BS. The Bay Area has so many other good Korean restaurants with significantly better service and atmosphere that it's not worth saving maybe $10 or $20 on a meal for 4 here. I recommend Kong Tofu close by on Stevens Creek near Vallco, or ToBang on Kiely.

Our FAVORITE neighborhood Korean spot!!! We come here so often because we can always count on a delicious, home cooked-warm fuzzy feeling meal. I'm always craving it! We love their assortment of banchan (and the fact they include it in their to go orders) and the #7 tofu stew with pork is our go-to staple. We also often order the seafood pancake (super generous on seafood & green onion!), Dduk Guk and Japchae - Nothing is ever greasy, and the flavors are great. Love the no nonsense, fast service with consistent quality food. Must come here!!!!

Family own, low key, casual, & small homey Korean joint def. well worth! Service is quick & fast, but the place itself is very small and overall stuffy/crowded (which really does take away one star). Since so small, there is usually a wait - which can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. But when I'm in the mood for the best of everything - like a good spicy tofu soup + flavorful BBQ chicken/meat + crispy chicken wings + nice thin veggie pancake - this place serves it all up and they do it ALL VERRYYY WELLL!

    Let's dig in:

    (1) Comp. Side Dishes (Banchan) - nice variety, love the Japchae noodles, pickled bean sprouts were good too, but fave was the cold tofu in sauce.

    (2) Tofu soup - good flavor and perfect amount of medium level spicy, prob. one of the better tofu soups I've had, especially for a restaurant that doesn't actually specialize in it.

    (3) Galbi (Short ribs) - meat was juicy and fatty, great flavor and also a nice, generous portion size as well.

    (4) Spicy chicken - one of the few places that have this dish! And it's bomb! Juicy pieces of chicken, drowned in a nice spicy flavorful sauce!

    (5) Galbi-tang soup - had a nice clean broth and tender beef, but really was just too cold for me overall. This def. needs to be in a hot stone pot and come out sizzling or it's just not the same. Also the egg in it def. threw me off and def. not used to that in my Galbi-tang.

    (6) Stone bibimbap rice - had all the right necessities and appropriate portion, came out super hot and ready for a nice sauce drown and some mixing action. Stayed hot enough to also create that nice crispy hard rice at the bottom too! Would def. get again!

    (7) Fried chicken wings - such a tasty crispy AF batter! Piping hot and still super juicy inside! Simple & lightly salted/peppered, worked perfectly with all the other dishes.

    (8) Deep fried pot stickers - tasty meaty interior, with a super crispy and crunchy exterior! A little oily, but perfect for sharing just so it's not too much overall.

    (9) Seafood pancake - was soooo freakn crispy...it was beautiful! Also perfectly nice and thin YET still jam packed with lots of seafood and yummy green onions! A must!
